Blocking a postpaid Subscription

To avoid incorrect platform behavior, we recommend not to perform the following operations with Subscriptions blocked due to an overdue Payment:

  • Activating Subscriptions manually.
  • Closing Subscriptions Charges manually.
  • Changing amounts of Subscription Resources.
  • Renewing Subscriptions manually.
  • Switching Subscription Plan.

For Subscriptions blocked due to exceeding the Subscription credit limit for the current Billing period, renewal and activation of the Subscription, change of the Resources and Plan are not available.

Conditions of Subscriptions transition to the Blocked status

Subscriptions are blocked only when an Account uses the Postpay charging model (see Creating an Account Class). A Subscription is blocked automatically in the following cases:

  • Payment, with which the Subscription is related via an Invoice (see Viewing details of the Invoice for the Postpay charging model), received the Expired status (see Payment for rendered Services);
  • The Current debt of the Subscription exceeded the Subscription credit limit that was set at the following level:
    1. The Account Class level, if the Subscription credit limit is not redefined on the Account level (see Creating an Account Class);
    2. The Account level, if the Subscription credit limit is not redefined on the Subscription level (see Viewing and updating an Account's details);
    3. The Subscription level, if the Subscription credit limit is redefined on the Subscription level (see Viewing and updating Subscription's details).
      Comparison of the Current debt and Subscription credit limit is triggered by the following events:
      • The Subscription credit limit has been changed;
      • The status of a Charge for the current Billing period has been changed;
      • For Pay as you go Services, the blocked Charge is separately compared with the Subscription credit limit.

Charges behavior when a Subscription receives the Blocked status

Charges behavior when a Subscription receives the Blocked status is similar to the Charges behavior when a Subscription with the corresponding billing type is stopped (see Particular aspects of Charges within the Postpay charging modelSplitting of Charges when a Subscription is stoppedCharges for the Subscriptions with different billing types).

Activation of blocked Subscriptions

Activation of Subscriptions blocked due to an overdue Payment

Blocked Subscriptions are activated automatically when the related Payment is completed (see Paying for the Subscriptions that are linked to the Invoice for the Postpay charging model). If there are any other conditions for blocking a Subscription, the Subscription remains in the Blocked status.

Activation of Subscriptions blocked due to exceeding the Subscription credit limit

Blocked Subscriptions are checked for activation automatically:

  • Once a day, during the billing process — if the amount of the blocked Charges is less than the current Subscription credit limit;
  • When the Subscription credit limit has been changed.

During the activation process, the blocked Subscription acts as follows:

  • Gets the status that was prior to Blocked;
  • Remains in the Blocked status without moving to the Active status — if the Invoices for the postpaid Subscription have expired Payments.

For Subscriptions with the CSP monthly, CPS annual, and G Suite billing types, the activation process includes an additional check of the open Charges. The Subscription does not get the Active status if the total amount of the blocked Charges and open Charges that will be blocked with the Subscription activation is greater than the current Subscription credit limit.

Deleting of blocked Subscriptions when they expire

Blocked Subscriptions that expired are deleted after the end of Grace and Stop periods (see Creating a Service Term).
