Microsoft Office 365. Renewing a Subscription

Renewing the Microsoft Office 365 Subscriptions is performed by delayed Renewal Orders. It means that provisioning a paid Renewal Order is postponed to the Subscription expiration day. It is also possible to change manually the amount of Resources in the Renewal Order for the next period of the Subscription. For the general description of the procedure, see Delayed renew subscription.

In this article:

If an Account pays for renewing a Subscription later then the expiration date, the period of the renewed Subscription will be shortened: the new expiration date is set as the previous expiration date + 1 year.

Renewed Subscriptions in the Stopped and Graced statuses get the Active status automatically when an Account pays for the Order and current debt.

Trial Subscriptions cannot be renewed. To continue using the Microsoft Office 365 service after the trial period, it is necessary to switch to the paid Plan (see Switch plan).

Auto-renewing a Subscription

By default, all paid Subscriptions have the activated auto-renew option so renewing is performed automatically on the expiration day as follows:

  1. Before the specified number of days to the Subscription expiration date, a Renewal Order with the current amount of the Resources is created.
  2. The linked Charges and Payment are generated.
  3. On the Subscription expiration day, if there are enough funds on the Account Balance, the Payment is automatically completed using the Account Balance. The Subscription is automatically renewed, and its expiration date is set as the expiration date of the original Subscription plus one year.
  4. If there are not enough funds on the Account Balance, the Subscription is stopped. To activate the Subscription, the Account has to complete the Renewal Order.

Manual renewing of a Subscription

Manual renewing of a Subscription is required if it is necessary to change the amount of the Resources in a Renewal Order or if the auto-renew option is deactivated. In the latter case:

  • The Auto-renew switch is not available if changing the auto-renew option of the Subscription is forbidden for customers in the Operator Comtrol Panel.
  • The Account did not accept the Microsoft agreement (see Microsoft Office 365. "Information" section).

To renew a Subscription manually:

  1. Sign in to the Customer Control Panel. The Subscriptions page is displayed on the Main Screen (see List of subscriptions).
  2. Complete one of the following steps:
    • Edit the existing Renewal Order (see Edit payment) if it is necessary to change the amount of the Resources in a Renewal Order.
    • If the Renewal Order is not created, create it manually:
      1. Click the name or ID of the required Subscription. The Subscription page is displayed (see Subscription details).
      2. Click Renew Subscription.

For the period when the manual renewal is not available, the Renew button is not displayed.

As a result, the page of the new Renewal Order creation is displayed.
  3. If necessary, on the Renewal Order creation page, for the Resources, set the new required amount (for the general description of the procedure, see Change resources).
  4. Complete the creation of the delayed Renewal Order.
  5. After completing the Payment (for the Prepay model) or creating the Renewal Order (for the Postpay model), the Renewal Order gets the Waiting for provisioning status and remains the status till the Subscription expiration date. No information is sent to the Service side till the Subscription expiration date too.
