Discounts are used to reduce fees by a specified percentage of the original fees in a plan. The following types of discounts are used in the platform:

Promo Code — a discount is applied when a promo code is manually entered on the order confirmation step. A promo code specified for a sales order is stored in a subscription to apply automatically to any future orders, if possible. A promo code specified for other orders is not stored in a subscription. To apply it automatically to any future orders, specify the promo code on the subscription details page (see Viewing and updating subscription's details).

Account — a discount is automatically applied to the selected accounts or account classes.

Reseller — a discount is automatically applied to the charge net cost and does not affect the charge amount for a customer. It is also automatically created for the reseller while ordering a Microsoft NCE subscription within a promotion from Microsoft together with a discount of the Subscription type (see Microsoft NCE. Operator Guide).

Subscription — a discount is automatically applied to a subscription to a specified plan for a specified account. It is also automatically created while ordering a Microsoft NCE subscription within a promotion from Microsoft (see Microsoft NCE. Operator Guide).
For subscriptions to plans with the Pay as you go billing type, a Promo code-type discount will be applied to all new charges.

When placing any type of order in the Operator Control Panel, the best-discount search algorithm is triggered at the beginning of the order placement process, when you move to the first subscription configuration step in the order totals block, and also when you move to the final order confirmation step. The first step of the order placement process is characterized by the automatic display of an available discount. The final step of the order placement process is characterized by the ability to manually enter a Promo code-type discount.

A discount is applied to a charge if it has the Active status (see Viewing the list of discounts) and it is valid for this charge. A discount is valid for a charge if at least one day of a period covered by the charge (
operate_from–operate_to) belongs to the discount period. -
Discounts are calculated and applied at the level of individual order lines. Instead of providing a single overall discount for the entire order, the system analyzes and applies discounts to each order line individually.

A discount is always applied to the entire charge, even if it only affects one day within the charge period. When a charge is regenerated (for example, if the order is paid not on the day it is created), the discount status and validity are checked again. If, within a single order, different discounts are applied to charges of the same price type for the same resource, taking into account their validity, only the first of these discounts is displayed on the order confirmation page.

When charges are regenerated, the discount that was used at the time of order placement is applied.

The system finds the best active discount at the moment the order placement is completed.

If, at the moment the order placement is completed, there are several active discounts in the system, the best discount among all available discounts is applied, without prioritization by type. An exception is the Promo code-type discount, because this discount is not involved in the automatic search for the best discounts.

If a Subscription-type discount or a Customer-type discount has already been applied to the order, applying a Promo code-type discount is allowed.

Promo code can be applied at the final order confirmation step. The promo code will be activated only if its discount amount exceeds the amount of the previously applied discount. If the promo code offers a more favorable condition, it automatically cancels the previous discount and is applied instead. If the promo code offers less favorable conditions, the previously applied discount remains in effect.

When placing a new subscription, if an automatic Microsoft discount was overridden by a promo code, it is still retained in the system. The Microsoft discount will be applied to all subsequent orders, provided it remains valid
